Dr. Kat Kesty is a nationally recognized Cosmetic Dermatologist and an expert in the treatment of surgical scars, acne scarring, and traumatic scarring in teens and adults. Dr. Kestyis a noted leader in her field and offers many effective scar treatment options.

Are there different types of scars?

Depending on your skin type and the extent of the injury, you may develop one of several types of scars.

  • Keloids can appear as raised scars that cover an area that is greater than the original injury
  • Contracture scars can appear when the skin is burned. Contracture scars are formed when your skin tightens to protect the injured area. In severe burn cases, contracture scars can limit mobility and affect the underlying muscles and nerves.
  • Hypertrophic scars are red in color and are slightly raised above the surface of the skin
  • Acne scars range from deep pits to scars with irregular shapes and colors
  • Traumatic scars from surgery or an accident

What areas of the body can you treat?

Our laser scar treatments are safe and effective for most of the locations where you may have a scar, including:

  • Face
  • Legs
  • Hands
  • Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs

What type of procedure is recommended for scar treatment?

Scars never completely go away, but laser technology can be used to reduce the size and shape of the scars to help you feel more confident about your appearance. Early scar treatment is key, and Dr. Kesty often treats healing scars at the time of suture removal. At St. Petersburg Skin and Laser, we offer many options, including Laser Resurfacing, to treat your scars. The benefit of treating your scar with Laser Resurfacing is that you experience little to no discomfort, and you can return to your normal activities almost immediately after treatment.

What is the cost of scar treatment?

Because each patient’s scar is unique, the cost of scar treatment will be provided after a thorough exam and consultation with Dr. Kat Kesty. During this time, the two of you will discuss your cosmetic goals along with the recommended treatment plan. To help you get the necessary treatment, our office accepts CareCredit.
